Iowa City ASC is a Top Ranked Ambulatory Surgery Center for 2025!
For the third year in a row, Iowa City ASC has been ranked as a top ambulatory surgery center in the United States! Iowa City ASC achieved a rank of 7th nationally and 2nd in the Midwest region! The 2025 results were compiled by Newsweek in partnership with nationally-recognized market research firm Statista. The goal of the America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2025 survey is to provide patients with a fast and easy ability to search out reliable, high quality ASCs in their area.

COVID-19 Virus Update
<p class="p2"><strong><em><span class="s1">Updated </span></em></strong><em><span style="font-weight: bold;">10/07/2021</span></em> Masks are mandated for all visitors.</p> <p class="p2">We are discontinuing temperature checking for patients. COVID-19 <span style="font-weight: bold;">tests still may be required if you are experiencing symptoms</span>. We will continue limiting people with our surgical patients to 1 adult with an adult patient. We understand there may be exceptions, this will be handled on a case-by-case basis. For pediatric patients (age 0-18 years), please limit to 2 adults. We will be asking there be no additional children brought to the surgical center during this time.</p>

Iowa City ASC Receives National Recognition, CNOR Strong Designation
Iowa City Ambulatory Surgery Center was just awarded the prestigious CNOR (R) Strong Designation from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI). This honor is determined on an annual basis and is awarded to facilities in which 50% or more of their full-time nursing staff have achieved CNOR certification and the facility consistently recognizes and rewards nurses who achieved this designation. According to CCI, “Earning the CNOR designation is a mark of distinction and demonstrates a commitment to upholding the highest standards in patient safety.” Additionally, “Research shows nurses who earn the CNOR credential have greater confidence in their clinical practice. Teams of CNOR-certified nurses who have mastered the standards of perioperative practice have been correlated to improved outcomes in surgical patients. We call that CNOR Strong.”

His visit to Iowa City ASC comes during a time when healthcare is receiving significant attention in the United States. Iowans, like other citizens across the U.S. are concerned about the rising cost of healthcare and what they can do to receive more affordable care. IOWA CITY, Iowa, October 9, 2018 — Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) is celebrating 10 years of serving Iowa City and the surrounding areas. Join us for an open house celebration on October 16 from 5-7 pm at 2963 Northgate Drive. The Iowa City ASC is a multi-specialty, state-of-the-art surgical facility focused on providing quality outpatient surgical services including <a href="https://iowacityasc.com/orthopedic-surgery/">Orthopedic procedures</a> and <a href="https://iowacityasc.com/ophthalmology-2/">Opthalmology</a>. The center was established in 2008 and currently performs approximately 7,000 surgical procedures per year. Continuing Education Opportunity For Iowa City ASC
Each year our team regularly performs a variety of emergency drills on how to respond in an emergency. Last week our team performed the Malignant Hyperthermia Emergency drill. This drill educates healthcare providers on this condition, which can occur either during surgery or after. The Iowa City ASC processes and quality measures ensure that our center functions in the most efficient, high quality manner to offer every patient the best results!

New Study Finds Billions in Savings Tied to ASCs <!--more--> ASCs are poised to save Medicare up to $57.6 billion over the next ten years, according to a new analysis by researchers at the prominent University of California-Berkeley Nicholas C. Petris Center on Health Care Markets and Consumer Welfare. The researchers analyzed government data between 2008 and 2011 and determined that ASCs saved Medicare $7.5 billion between the four-year span. The researchers then determined that ASCs have the potential to save the Medicare system an additional $57.6 billion over the next decade.
