Dr. Christina L. Gillmor is a fellowship-trained cornea, cataract, and LASIK surgeon. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and provides specialized ophthalmic care at Wolfe Eye Clinic locations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Marshalltown.
Dr. Gillmor specializes in corneal transplantation procedures including Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK), Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK), and penetrating keratoplasty (PKP). Her clinical interests also include cataract surgery, sutureless secondary intraocular lens placement, ocular surface surgery, treatment of conjunctival and corneal cancers, and refractive surgery options including LASIK laser vision correction.
Dr. Gillmor earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with highest distinction and a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. She received her medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed her internship at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. During residency, she received the Alan C. Riley Award for compassionate patient care and was named Ophthalmology Physician of the Year by University of Kansas medical students. Dr. Gillmor then completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at the University of Minnesota, focusing on the medical and surgical management of complex corneal disorders.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Gillmor is passionate about education and mentorship. She has presented educational lectures to peers and colleagues and has volunteered with student-run medical clinics and surgical mentorship programs.
